What is a thyroid gland?

The thyroid gland is the largest endocrine gland needed to produce hormones. The thyroid gland is located on the sides and front of the trachea and throat in the neck. The hormones it produces regulate the body's metabolic rate, as well as its development and growth.

Thyroid diseases are widespread today. There is both hyperthyroidism and hypothyroidism. Dietary supplements may be needed to provide thyroid hormones, such as thyroxine and triiodine thyronine.

What are the supplements needed for thyroid health?

Iodine and selenium are necessary for thyroid health. Magnesium, vitamin D3, chromium, the amino acid L-tyrosine and manganese are also needed for the thyroid gland.

Benefits of thyroid supplements

The body uses these iodine and selenium to produce the thyroid hormones needed for many bodily functions. They help keep your metabolism and energy production regular. Antioxidants protect cells from free radicals, and amino acids help increase hormone production.

Symptoms of thyroid disease

Hyperthyroidism is associated with weight loss, increased appetite and restlessness. Nervousness, intolerance, thinning hair, tiredness, increased sweating, muscle and bone pain may also occur. The menstrual cycle becomes irregular.

Underdevelopment can lead to weight gain, regardless of the calories consumed, may increase cholesterol levels and lead to constipation. Skin problems, constant tiredness and irregular periods can also occur.
